The Princess, Monster and Superhero

Elise made up this story this morning:

"Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess. She lived in a big castle. One day a big monster came by and said "RAWWWWWWWRRR!!!" He took the princess and threw her away with the garbage. Then he felt bad so he went to the princess store to get another one. He took the new one home to the castle and gave her a hug. Then he sent her to the store to pick up some steaks for dinner. She cooked him a steak dinner and he was happy.
One day, a superhero came to the castle (it was mommy) and she brought a bulldozer with her. She knocked down the castle and stole the princess from the monster. Then they went to the balloon store and bought some balloons. After they got balloons, they went back to the castle. Not all of the castle broke, the playroom was located on the side so it was still there. Then they played with their balloons. the end."

wow. I wish we had this on video. hilarious.

Remember me?

I'm sure you remember this guy as the bully from countless 80's movies. One of my favorites is Just One of the Guys. Yes, we own that movie and yes, I watched it today. It has the perfect balance of everything cheesy that makes a great 80's movie.

The UCLA baby shower

Today the nice people in Mike's department at work threw a shower for us and another couple-Mike's co-fellow Bill and his lovely wife Courtney who are expecting their first baby in April. We felt very fortunate to be included even though it isn't customary to have a shower for baby #2! Oh, to be reacquainted with items such as the "Boppy" and Lansinoh nursing products...things that seem a distant memory to me now.
The food was terrific, plentiful and we had not one, not two but three cakes!! In an effort to not turn into a complete whale I was pretty careful about my cake consumption...the absence of gestational diabetes has it's drawbacks;-)

Uncool

I have come to the realization that I am totally uncool. Not that I thought I was all that cool before, but now it's just plainly evident. Last week "Auntie Rebecca" came to visit and we had a great time. Lots of shopping and getting our nails done and girly things. One day we had lunch at a trendy cafe in West Hollywood (even Reese Witherspoon was there). I was feeling pretty good about myself until I looked around and realized I was a big 30-something, 7 months pregnant lady in a sea of blonde and pencil-thin 20 year olds. Rebecca fit in much better than me in her dressed up non-pregnant state but it was definitely like the scene from Knocked Up when they try to go to the dance club.
I'm OK with it though...I waddled back to my car thankful for my wonderful family and the somewhat operational brain in my head.

Legoland!

They call it Legoland for a reason, lots of legos. We went to Legoland last week to celebrate Elise's birthday and because Grandma was here. If Disneyland is heavy metal then Legoland is classical. It is seriously one of the most darling places we have ever been to. No crowds, no lines, no annoying people-all things the Froehlers despise. The weather was a beautiful 68 degrees. Elise had so much fun! Legoland is perfect for little kids 2 or 3 until about 7 years. Older kids will get bored but it was perfect for us. Finally a place where Elise can go on almost all of the rides! She even got to dig for "dinosaur bones" and play in the musical water fountains. Our pictures as usual did not turn out great but...

Elise and mommy on the serene (and somewhat boring) fairy tale boat ride:
Proof that Elise rode her first rollercoaster with daddy 3 times!!!! We could only get them on the ascent:
Say hi to the zebras made out of legos:
Another of Elise's favorite rides-she's serious about driving. She got a pretend license when she was finished the course:
Holly's favorite part of the trip hands down-the USA made out of legos. It was simply the most awesome thing I have seen in awhile. Amazing. hours and days and years it took people to create these picture perfect cities all from legos. Craziness:

The Vegas strip-lego style..love it:
