Almost 5!

We celebrated with Elise's class today. As usual, mom brought in robin's egg blue cupcakes-her favorite color. She is very excited to have her Auntie Jessica in town this weekend! Legoland here we come (again)!

Crush

Just what this week did. Crush. I searched in my head for a title. Perhaps Holly and the Awful, No Good, Terrible Valentine's Day, Mal-entine's Day, Hey this week was Sh*tastic! I waited to write anything because I knew I was being self-indulgent and maudlin. It got better...

I love Valentine's Day. I know it's a silly holiday and most people I know don't make a big deal out of it. Especially when you are married and have kids. It's such a sweet and happy holiday if you look past all of the usual commercial proclamations of love including gifts, flowers, dinner, etc. Mostly I just love hearts. And pink.

Mike left last Sunday for a work trip so I have been a single parent. On this particular holiday I managed to set off my house alarm, deal with a bloody nose (Elise's), soothe a sick (again) baby, almost get hit by a car and almost hit a pedestrian all while having an epic migraine headache. And get flipped off twice. I curled up into a pile of mush, stared at the roses Mike sent before he left and cried my day away. I actually didn't cry...I drank some wine and read a book. (And note all of the almosts!)

The week ended on a nicer note. I managed to get in some yoga and running every day, download new Radiohead and read two books. Mike will return Saturday and I will greet him with a smile on my face and two living, happy children.

Box O'fun

Despite the fact that these children have more toys than they could possibly know what to do with, this is how they decided to spend their afternoon...perhaps it is BECAUSE they have too many toys. I'm positive I will get slammed for comparing them to animals but they really do remind me of dogs who get "into things" like the garbage, groceries, your garden...etc.
