Rocking the Kasbah

I have been on a serious hunt for a more sophisticated candle or scent for our abode. I consulted with the ever knowledgeable Katie and she turned me on to Votivo. I will never ever EVER buy another candle again. I am easily annoyed with candle aromas-too sweet, too cleaning producty, too dull, too MUCH. I can't stand Yankee candles for that reason..these votivo candles are the opposite. They are absolutely intoxicating and infuse the room with a pleasant, almost sensual smell. The price is steep but well worth every penny, for me, anyway:-) I have decided if I could be any smell I would be Votivo's Moroccan Fig, heavenly.

And that leads me to my next thought..we went out for Moroccan food last night at a place called Tagine. It was marvelous! The food was unusually tasty and aromatic. We ordered the chef's tasting menu and everything from the shrimp with spicy almond sauce to the bastilla to the lamb with cauliflower and couscous to the baklava with sweet tea and strawberries was outstanding. Bastilla is a Moroccan meat pie which layers chicken, egg and almonds in phyllo dough and tops with sugar and cinnamon. Mike lovingly referred to it as a chicken donut and unpleasant as the description might sound, it was quite delicious. The food was reminiscent of that of an Ethiopian restaurant in Boston we ate at years back. However, and I'm aware this is in very poor taste, I did not leave starving this time.

All I know is that a LOT of people made fun of me when I sang it like that...so apparently not EVERYONE thought that! Hilarious!
